1. THE COURSE What is Audiobook Income Academy About?

It doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist to work out that this course is about creating Kindle and Audiobooks on Amazon’s publishing platform.

What’s interesting though is that in all of their pre-sale marketing, the course is promoted as a “new” way to make money on Amazon. 

The adverts go into detail to point out that this "way of making money on Amazon" is much better than Amazon FBA, and a way that very few people know about it.

I found this pretty interesting, as last time I checked, the Amazon publishing platform wasn't new!

Anyway...moving on...

The aim of the course is to teach you how to build a profitable online publishing business, and the creators do a pretty good job in their pre-sale videos of painting the picture of what’s possible for you.

They go into great detail telling you how much you can make, and how passive it is.

2. COURSE CREATORS: Who are the Mikkelsen Twins?

As you probably already know, the Audiobook Income Academy course was put together by the power duo commonly known as the Mikkelsen twins (Rasmus and Christian).

You’ll notice right off the bat, that these two characters pack a real punch, and supposedly they’ve made a small fortune playing the Amazon publishing game.

I gotta say, their advertising strategy is pretty relentless.

I got hit up by them on pretty much every social media channel I’m on...Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and even through banner ads on various websites (yup, that’s cookies for ya!)

I’m guessing if you’re reading this review then you may be able to relate?

I gotta say, their adverts are pretty engaging.

I got kinda mesmerized by their tonality and I gotta give them props for creating content that catches your attention.

So back to their success in the online publishing world...this is an interesting point.

While their backstory is that they have been widely successful at cracking the Amazon publishing code, I wasn’t able to find out too much information about this when I tried to dig into the details.

They seem to have a pretty decent YouTube following, but they don’t reveal any legit earning reports or even examples of their books in any of their videos or training (from what I can see anyway).

In-fact there were a few interesting stories that popped out of the woodwork about them, with one Reddit reviewer even commenting that the twins had been banned from Amazon publishing for breaking their terms of service.

If that's true, it would mean that they now make all their "Amazon publishing money" by telling people how to publish in Amazon, rather than actually doing it themselves.

3. COURSE OVERVIEW: What Does Audiobook Income Academy Cover?

The idea of this course is that it will take you by the hand and lead you step by step through the process of building an online publishing business. 

The course is designed to last 7 weeks, with some extra bonus content at the end.

Here’s a high level overview of what you’ll get with each week of the course:

As the weeks progress, the twins dive into each of the topics above, and overall the course makes up over 40 hours of video content. 

The Mikkelsens kick things off by covering the mindset strategy you need to be successful. I’m a huge fan of mindset talk, and although a lot of people see it as an unnecessary cliche, I personally believe that mindset is everything in life. 

I know first hand that everything started to fall into place for me once I focused on getting my mind right. 

Next they’ll work through the process of picking a winning niche to create your Kindle and Audiobook about. This is a pretty important step in the process, and if you get this wrong you can set yourself back pretty badly in the process. 

They’ll then cover the process for creating your book so that it is formatted correctly for Amazon’s publishing platform and ready to sell.

After that they’ll start to dive into the process of growing your audience and launching your book so that it comes out of the gates hot!

Finally, they head for the home straight by taking you through running Amazon ads to your book to continue to drive sales and keep the Amazon algorithm ticking along in your favor!

Once the course is complete, they do throw in a couple of bonuses to stack the value.

4. BONUSES: What Else Do You Get?

When it comes to selling, the Mikkelsen twins aren't ones to miss a trick, and this includes playing the age old "BONUS" trick.

They go to town dropping bonus after bonus with this course, including group calls, 1-1 coaching, done for you templates, case studies and access to their private Facebook group, just to name a few.

All in all, they calculate that the bonuses alone are worth almost $35K. 

In my opinion, this is a gross over exaggeration and they are very much creating what I would label as "perceived value". 

Sure, there's some value in all the extra bits they are offering, but not to the value of $35K.

5. THE SALES PITCH: It’s 3 Hours Long

Every successful online coaching program has a hot sales funnel, and the AIA 2.0 funnel is no different.

As I said, their advertising strategy is pretty relentless (as I’m sure you’ve found out by now). 

I got sucked in through their YouTube ads, which feature one of the twins (no idea which one), telling us about the “new” way of making money with Amazon. 

From there you’ll be presented with a chance to join a webinar which claims to reveal this amazing opportunity that no one else knows about.

Once you sign up, the webinar will kick off almost instantly and the Mikkelsen twins then get to work weaving their magic for the next 3 hours as they explain how the system works and how you could soon be joining the thousands of successful students who are now making passive income through their training.

Once they’re done with their presentation, you’ll then have the opportunity to sign up for the course...so let’s talk about price.

6. COST: How Much Will it Set You Back?

Let’s be honest…

At the end of the day, the biggest factor when considering whether or not to buy a course like Audiobook Income Academy is the cost!

So let’s get down to it.

You’re looking at $1,497 to get your hands on the training course, or 3 installments of $797 each if you don’t have the money upfront.

I gotta say, I always find the cost of paying for a course like this interesting.

Dropping that kind of wedge on an online training course may sound like insanity to a lot of people, but here’s how I look at it.

For me, the price is almost irrelevant. 

What I’m really interested in is what return I’m going to get on my investment. 

In other words, once I’ve paid and gone through the training videos, what skills will I learn and how much will they allow me to make afterwards?

I have no problem dropping even $10K on a training course, if I know I’ll eventually get 10X my money back (or even more).

Heck, I’ve done this many times over the last decade, and to tell you the truth it’s been one of the biggest factors in allowing me to up-skill myself enough to build a business that now makes me more in a month than I used to make in a year working my shitty 9-5!

So does that mean you should invest $1,497 into the Audiobook Income Academy course?

7. REVIEWS: What Do Customers Say? 

We all know that the sales page of any decent online course is littered with glowing testimonials from “happy” customers, and the Audiobook Income Academy course is no different. 

What I like to do though, is dig a little deeper and do some research on independent review platforms like Reddit, Trustpilot etc. to find out what happens when the course creators are not able to control what is published. 

Here are some of the results...

Let’s just say that not everyone is a raving fan (as their sales page portrays), and as I've already mentioned, one of the threads even mentioned that the twins have had their publishing accounts suspended for violating Amazon’s terms and conditions.

This implies that the majority (if not all) of their money is now made from “teaching” people how to make money publishing on Amazon, rather than actually doing it…

As always, I tend to take Reddit comments with a pinch of salt. After all, this could be one of their competitors leaving a negative review, right?

That said, in my experience, where there's smoke ther's often fire, so I guess you’ll have to do your own research and make up your own mind!

8. REFUND POLICY: Are You Covered?

So here’s the thing about the Audiobook Income Academy refund policy…

It’s pretty impressive. 

I’d go as far as saying that it’s probably one of the best I’ve seen, from any online course I’ve purchased. 

Here’s the nuts and bolts of it:

You’ve basically got 180 days to see if the course is a good fit for you. Provided you’ve worked through the course, and actually published an Audiobook, then you qualify for a full refund, as well as an additional $1,000 for your time.

Now it’s not every day you’ll come across a refund policy like that.

As impressive as it is, I do also wonder if there’s more to it. 

I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking “What’s the catch?”...

Once again, you’ll probably have to make up your own mind about this one.

If you’re the type of person that likes to be 110% sure before you make a purchase, then I’d recommend taking a deep dive into the terms and conditions.

9. COURSE LAYOUT: Easy to Use and 40+ Hours of Content

I gotta give the Mikkelsen twins credit for the way the course is setup and laid out.

It's pretty easy to follow, and the user interface is really simple and easy to navigate. 

I was also impressed that they managed to stack over 40 hours of content in the training videos. 

In my opinion, this is just about the right amount of content when dripped out over a few weeks. It's doesn't overwhelm users, but also doesn't leave them feeling short changed at all.

10. FACEBOOK GROUP: Access to Hang Our With Other Students

I've found that often when I purchase an online course, one of the biggest benefits is that you'll get access to a private Facebook group containing other students. 

The power in this is that you'll get the opportunity to mastermind with other students and pick up tips, advice and pure motivation by hanging out with them.

This can be really powerful, especially if you're able to learn and share ideas with students that are more successful than you are. 

I know when I learnt how to do lead generation, I got access to one of the best private Facebook groups on the planet. 

The golden nuggets dropped in the group each and every day are totally next level, and it's been one of the biggest factors in my success.

THE BAD: Cons of Audiobook Income Academy

11. WEBINAR: Too Long and Full of Marketing Tricks

While I have no doubt the Webinar converts viewers into buyers, I was slightly annoyed by the marketing tricks that were dropped in throughout it.

While the twins rambled on for over 3 hours, I thought the information could have been packed into 45 minutes at most. 

Most of the webinar is just them repeating over and over again what a good opportunity their business model is, and how much money you can make. 

Thanks guys...we get it.

They also used a lot of fake scarcity, telling us the Webinar would be taken down within 24 hours, and that this "opportunity" wouldn't be around for very long. 

Really?...does that stuff still work?

12. THE BUSINESS MODEL: Is it Really Sustainable?

One of the red flags about the course for me is the actual business model of publishing Kindle and Audiobooks. 

In the sales videos the Mikkelsen’s are quick to diss the Amazon FBA model, outlying how saturated and competitive it has become.

I’ll admit I agree with them 100% on this, and would never advise anyone to get into Amazon FBA today (been there, done that).

That said, I question whether or not the Kindle and Audiobook space isn’t going the same way.

 I mean at the end of the day, there are only a certain number of niches available, right?

What also concerns me a little about this business model is that there is almost no barrier to entry.

Anyone can throw up a Kindle book or Audiobook overnight and start getting sales the very next day. 

So what's to say that dozens of other publishers won't swarm into your niche and start eating up a share of your sales almost immediately?

With the Amazon publishing model, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

Frankly, I’m not entirely convinced I’d want to build my entire income source around a business model that has such a low barrier to entry, and I would certainly think twice about quitting my 9-5 doing it.

13. FINAL THOUGHTS: Should You Buy Audiobook Income Academy?

OK, let's wrap this sucker up...

What you're really here to find out is whether or not you should drop your hard earned cash on the Audiobook Income Academy course, or whether you should be investing it in something else, right?

I get it...I had the same thoughts when I was looking into the program.

Here's the bottom line...
This training is not bad, and I believe that the fundamentals of this business do work.

 I also believe that the Mikkelsen twins have helped people make more passive income, although I'm not quite sure it's on the scale that they claim.

At best, I think they might be really good at selling, and they do a great job of pulling people into a mediocre program that will definitely make "some" money...just maybe not as much as you think it will.

I also don't know that it's quite as easy as they make it look, and I'm super suspicious that they don't reveal any of their own earnings either.

So should you buy the course?
In my opinion...NO!

As someone that has already run an Amazon FBA business, I'd be very reluctant to dive into the Amazon publishing model. 

I'm just not convinced that it has much longevity, and I think it will soon become super competitive and over saturated (if it's not already).

So my advice would be to give it a miss, and focus on another business model which in my opinion is the best online business model on the planet.

14. MY #1 ONLINE BUSINESS PICK: Local Lead Generation

While there are a ton of different ways to make money online, local lead generation is by far the best in my opinion!

With local lead gen, you're sending leads to local business owners who need more customers. 

You do this by building little websites that rank in Google. 

Let's say you build a carpet cleaning website for a local area near you. Next you add a call tracking phone number to it. You then redirect that phone number to a local carpet cleaning company that wants more customers.

When people search in Google for a local carpet cleaning company and find your site, they call the number and are redirected to the local carpet cleaning company who takes the call.

When this happens, the carpet cleaning company pay you for sending them the lead. 

Sounds simple right?

I've now got over 60 of these little websites, that send leads to different business owners. 

Collectively, I'm now making over $50K a month from all the leads I send them, and the best part is that they are happy to pay me because they are getting so much value in return (more customers).
