So lately I’ve been spending a lot of my time digging into the very best Amazon FBA tools and courses.
As a 6 figure Amazon seller, I like to make sure I keep my finger on the pulse when it comes to the tools that will help me run my business.
I actually do this in all my online business ventures, including my lead generation business, which is now making me a solid $30K a month.
I like to think that this is one of the main reasons I’ve been able to crush it online for the last 5 years.
In this article, I’m gonna dive deep into 2 of the biggest Amazon tools on the market. AMZScout and Jungle Scout.
I’ll run through their pros and cons and let you know which tool I think will help you the most.
But here’s why this article is not just another review comparison article…
Before I’m done, I’m gonna give you the low down dirt on selling on Amazon (from a 6 figure sellers’ point of view).
I’ll take you into the trenches and share the scary stuff that you ain’t gonna hear from people that are selling Amazon courses and tools.
Trust me, you’re gonna want to read this before you go any further with your Amazon FBA business.
Here’s what I’m gonna cover for you...
1. JUNGLE SCOUT: What is Jungle Scout?
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re probably familiar with Jungle Scout if you’ve spent any time looking into Amazon FBA and how you can get started.
Jungle Scout touts itself as the perfect tool to help newbie sellers, and advanced sellers dominate on Amazon’s selling platform.
What’s pretty cool about the tool is that it comes in both a Chrome plugin extension, as well as an online web tool.
This means that you have quick and easy access from anywhere that has an internet connection, and there are no annoying updates to run.
A lot of people tend to think of Jungle Scout as a keyword research tool (I know I did), but it’s way more than that.
On top of its ability to find and analyze killer products to sell on Amazon, it also offers an impressive suite of additional tools that we’ll dig into a little later in this article.
2. AMZScout: What is AMZScout?
Like the Jungle Scout tool, AMZScout is one of the main players in the Amazon tools space, and for good reason.
It also offers up a Chrome extension and web app, and offers its users some sweet data to help them make better product research decisions.
We'll dive into the product features and tools below, but all you need to know is that even though it hasn't been around as long as Jungle Scout, it's definitely still a key competitor, and making a big splash in the Amazon space.
3. CREATORS: Do they Actually Sell on Amazon?
The problem with a lot of Amazon courses and tools these days is that they are created by people that barely sell on Amazon themselves.
I mean, I don’t have a huge problem with that, but it’s kinda strange to take advice or guidance from people that don’t take their own, right?
In the case of Jungle Scout, this isn’t a problem. The tool was founded by the charismatic Greg Mercer, who is actually an 8 figure Amazon seller himself.
I think it’s fair to say that he knows a thing or two about selling on the world’s biggest shopping platform.
Greg created Jungle Scout out of frustration within his own Amazon business.
He got tired of having to solve problems like product research, stock inventory management, competitor tracking, and all the other nitty gritty tasks that come with running a successful Amazon business.
Out of this frustration came a solution...Jungle Scout, a tool that would handle all of the above problems for him.
Being the savvy entrepreneur that he is, Greg then started tailoring and tweaking the tool for the masses, and today Jungle Scout is one of the leading Amazon FBA tools around.
To this day, Greg has managed to keep the “family” feel that Jungle Scout started out as, and he now runs a team of 30 employees, all working together to deliver a killer tool that solves problems for their customers.
AMZScout has a more commercial background, going back to 2017.
Now boasting over 320,000 successful Amazon products that were discovered using the tool, it is also one of the big dogs in the Amazon space, and has customers such as Red Bull, Disney and Casio.
Like Jungle Scout, they also seem to have a relaxed culture, with their 100% remote team, flexible working hours, and open vacation policy.
All in all, both companies seem like an awesome place to work.
4. JUNGLE SCOUT FEATURES: What Does Jungle Scout Offer?
The Jungle Scout team have been around for a few years now, and they are pretty popular in the Amazon space.
As I’ve already mentioned, they serve up a web app as well as an extension, giving users the flexibility of choosing which version to run with.
Some of the main features that Jungle Scout offer are:
Their Product Database: The Jungle Scout tool has a killer database of products which allows them to deliver some extremely refined metrics.
The kind of accuracy they have comes with time and volume, which they have both of.
This in turn makes the tool extremely reliable.
Keyword Research: This module gives you solid insight into what Amazon shoppers are actually looking for, and how to then set your own listing up so that it appeals to them.
It may not be as in-depth as the AMZScout tool when it comes to this feature, but it’s still pretty solid.
Competitor Analysis: You’ll also have the ability to do a deep dive into your competitors and what makes up their business. You’ll get information on their estimated sales, revenue, reviews etc.
New Opportunities: The Opportunity Finder module helps analyze trends and emerging markets that could be profitable.
You’ll get awesome info like keywords that have high search volume, but very low competition.
This makes ths tool perfect for the newbie Amazon seller that wants to hit a home run right out the gate.
Of course, you could try and work this out yourself manually, by trawling through each competitor listing one at a time, but JS bundles all this data together for quick and easy analysis.
If you’re deep in the product research phase, then this will be extremely handy, as it will save you a ton of time and effort and will help you make better business decisions.
Find High Quality Suppliers: The Supplier database takes a lot of the risk out of finding a reliable supplier that won’t rip you off.
I know when I first got started selling on Amazon, I had a really hard time dropping $10K over to a supplier that I didn’t know from a bar of soap.
I mean how did I know I’d ever hear from them again, right?
Using the built in supplier database that Jungle Scout offers, is a smart way to shop for suppliers and start getting samples from trusted sources that are qualified and verified.
Launch: Ok let’s be clear. One of the biggest keys to success when it comes to selling on Amazon is making sure you nail your product launch.
If you don’t, there’s a really good chance your product will end up buried on page 10 of Amazon’s search listings, collecting dust.
The good news is Jungle Scout Launch gives you the ability to tap into various markets, and allow you to offer your new product at a discounted price.
The idea is that this will lead to sales, which in turn leads to an increase in ranking, helping you drive organic sales from real Amazon buyers.
This is an extremely powerful concept, and a big help when trying to knock out the competition.
Sales Analytics: This module helps you keep an eye on the way your business is running in terms of profit and sales. You can track revenue and costs down to the cent, helping you run your business more efficiently.
Inventory Tracking: As a 6 figure seller, I can assure you that inventory tracking doesn’t get any easier over time.
With long shipping lead times, and fluctuating demand, getting your stock management correct and avoiding running out of stock all together can be a real challenge.
The Inventory Manager tool helps you keep an eye on your stock, and an algorithm will even help you predict future sales demand and advise you when to order new stock.
5. AMZSCOUT FEATURES: What Does AMZScout Offer?
Like Jungle Scout, it’s easy to think of AMZScout as a research tool, but it offers a lot more than just a way to find new products.
Product Searches: The AMZScout Product Searches functionality allows you to get insight into what’s doing well on Amazon and what’s not.
You’re able to search for a particular product by keyword and get a closer look into metrics such as estimated sales, revenue, reviews etc.
Fee Calculator: If you’re currently selling on Amazon, you may be familiar with the Amazon FBA Fee Calculator tool.
In AMZScout you have the ability to see similar information using their built-in fee calculator.
You’ll get instant access to critical information such as Amazon fees for the product you intend to sell, which will allow you to crunch those numbers a little closer.
Take it from me, there are hundreds of hidden costs and surprises waiting down the road for any new Amazon seller, so if you’re able to get better insight into gross and net profit margins, then you’re gonna want to make sure you do it.
Sales Estimator: If you’re wondering how seasonal your product might be, then you’ll want to run the sales estimator tool, which will show sales trends and estimated sales volume over a period of time.
This is critical to ensuring that you’re not launching a highly seasonal product.
Imagine launching a product, only to find that it was selling well during your research phase a few months ago, but now the sales have dried up, and will remain dried up for another 6 months.
Product Tracking: Another killer way to stay on top of your competition and carry out high quality due diligence, is by using the AMZScout Product Tracking function.
This allows you to keep an eye on the competition, by tracking their daily sales, reviews, and price changes.
Product Sourcing: Like Jungle Scout, AMZScout also offer the ability to find information about suppliers of a particular product.
This will at the very least give you a solid starting point when it comes to finding a supplier that you trust to create your product for you.
Due diligence is key to Amazon success, and this will help you take it to a whole new level.
6. SUPPORT: How do the Tools Stack Up When You Need Help?
Jungle Scout goes all-in on customer support.
With their “We’re a family” culture, they treat their customers the same way, ensuring that every need is taken care of.
It’s no surprise then that their customers love them, and according to their poll, 97% of customers who request support end up leaving a positive rating afterwards.
This tells us one thing...JS customers feel satisfied that their support issue has been resolved, which of course is the gold standard benchmark for a support team right?
If I'm honest, I can't fault the AMZScout Support model either.
They run a Zendesk setup, and also go out of their way to get their customers taken care of, whether it's answering simple questions, or looking into more in-depth technical issues and queries.
7. USER EXPERIENCE: How Easy are the Tools to Use?
When it comes to usability, both Jungle Scout and AMZScout both over deliver.
They both have clean, and intuitive interfaces that are well branded, and easy to use.
I don't know about you, but when I start using a tool, I kinda want it to be simple and easy to get started...I'm not a fan of watching tons of training video just to learn the basics.
Both Jungle Scout and AMZScout tick this box for me, and compared to some of the other tools out there, this is about as good as it gets in terms of being able to roll up your sleeves and dive right in.
8. FEEDBACK AND REVIEWS: What Do Customers Say?
When it comes to reviews and feedback, Jungle Scout dominates big time.
With over 2,000 Trustpilot reviews, and a rating of 4.5 out of 5, you can be sure that they have thousands of happy customers.
Remember, when it comes to reviews, usually less than 5% of customers end up leaving a review, so the fact that Jungle Scout have managed to get over 2,000 on one platform alone is pretty impressive.
In the case of AMZScout, they certainly have more reviews than some of the other Amazon tools out there, but they are lagging behind the JS team, with just over 300, and a rating that just creeps over 4.
All in all, both tools have solid feedback here, but Jungle Scout take 1st place for customer satisfaction.
9. PRICE: How Much Does Jungle Scout Cost?
Jungle Scout has a clean and simple pricing plan.
It's simple enough for anyone to understand, which sounds trivial, but trust me, I've seen some really complicated pricing structures out there when it comes to online tools.
You get a 14 days risk free trial when you sign up, which let's you dig into the tool and start putting it through its paces.
After that, it's pretty clear and simple as you get a range of different tiers which each offer various options.
As with most of products, you'll get a cheaper price if you're able to pay for a year upfront, but the monthly prices aren't too bad either.
With the basic plan, you’ll be able to pick up the Chrome browser extension for $29 a month.
Next up is the suite option for $49 a month (providing you with the basic features plus a bit more).
Lastly, you've got the Professional package for $84 a month which is tailored for agency setups.
10. PRICE: How Much Does AMZScout Cost?
AMZScout do really well with their pricing, provided you're able to pay upfront.
With a mere $15 a month for the Pro Extension, and only $29 a month for the Amazon Seller's Bundle, the benefits of paying upfront are huge, as the price when paying monthly for these options is closer to $50 a month.
So on the surface, it looks like AMZScout has Jungle Scout beaten on price, although of course price is only one factor you should consider when deciding which tool is best for you.
11. PROS AND CONS: Jungle Scout
As with any software tool, Jungle Scout has good features and various limitations.
Jungle Scout Pros and Cons
Jungle Scout has a super clean layout with awesome branding. This makes the tool a pleasure to use, and really simple and intuitive.
The keyword tool is one of the best on the market in my opinion, and although all of their modules are pretty good, this one stands out for me.
Their customer support is next level, and Greg Mercer has gone out of his way to create and then maintain that "family" feel, which trickles down into the way they treat their customers.
Even though this company is growing every year, and doing millions in revenue, they still feel like a small family and they really care about the people they serve.
On the downside, the price comes in a little steeper than AMZScout,
12. PROS AND CONS: AMZScout
Like Jungle Scout, the AMZScout tool has some good features as well as a few negatives.
AMZScout Pros and Cons
Like Jungle Scout, the AMZScout interface is super clean and really easy to use, and the Chrome extension is really fast when loading data.
Overall the price comes in as more affordable than Jungle Scout, provided you can actually afford to pay for a full year upfront. If you're gonna pay monthly, the pricing isn't quite as impressive.
One big bonus is that they accept Paypal, which is a plus for those that don't have a credit card.
The product database is also packed full of high quality data and options to browse through.
On the downside, they don't offer as many different tools as Jungle Scout do, and the Keyword Explorer tool was a little slow to load.
I also thought the training videos were pretty simplistic and seem to be aimed at total beginners which is a bit of a bummer for more experienced sellers like me.
13. JUNGLE SCOUT OR AMZSCOUT: Which Tool is Best?
Ok, so after digging through both tools, you wanna know which one you should use, right?
Honestly, it kinda depends...
What part of your business do you need help with?
As we've covered, both of these tools have awesome features, but you're gonna need to cross reference them with your own business, and decide which features would work best for your you.
For me, the winner was Jungle Scout.
I just like the clean and simple layout of the tools, the way they work, and the overall feel of the product.
They also offer more tools than AMZScout, and those tools were better suited to the needs of my FBA business.
That said, the AMZScout tool could equally have worked for me, if my business needed their features more at the time.
But here's the real question you should be asking yourself...
Are you sure you want to start an Amazon FBA business?
14. THE BIG SECRET: What You Really Need to Know About Selling on Amazon.
Ok, I’m gonna be totally upfront and honest with you.
As a 6 figure Amazon seller, I feel like I kinda owe you the truth.
So here it is....
Selling on Amazon is hard.
I mean really hard.
Now this might sound like a strange thing to read in an article reviewing Amazon tools, but it’s the truth.
Since starting my Amazon business in 2017, it’s become harder and harder every year.
With literally hundreds of new sellers pouring onto the platform every single day, this means that with each and every day that passes, it’s getting more and more competitive.
More competition means one thing...price wars.
As a seller, I honestly feel like it’s a race to the bottom when it comes to pricing.
As Chinese manufacturers are now selling their products on Amazon as well, they are able to cut out the middle man (you and me), and price their products that much lower.
To give you an example, when I first started selling back in 2017, the average price of my competitors was about $16.99...now it’s $11.49.
This means I’ve had to significantly drop the price of my own product, if I’m going to remain competitive.
All the while, my production costs have increased, my shipping rates have increased, my Amazon warehouse fees have increased...but my selling price has dropped.
You do the math on that one!
On top of that, I have become increasingly aware of how little control I have over my business.
I’ve now realized that I am at the mercy of too many 3rd party players.
Let me ask you a few questions…
Time for Some Tough Questions
In every one of these scenarios, there is absolutely nothing you can do.
Do you see how little control you have over this business model?
Remember too, it will cost you well over $10K to get started with your business, as you'll need to invest in enough inventory to cover the long shipping lead times to make sure you don't run out of stock.
On top of that, you don't even know if anyone is going to buy what you're selling.
Would you ever want to quit your day job, and put your family's future in jeopardy, all based on your Amazon FBA business?
No matter how well I do on Amazon, I will never feel comfortable enough to rely on this as my main income source.
I would always be anxiously waiting for something to go wrong.
15. GOOD NEWS: I’ve Found a Better Business Model
The more time I’ve spent as an Amazon seller, the more I’ve realized that the business model is severely flawed, and stacked against me.
I knew that if I was ever going to be able to quit my 9-5 job, I’d need to find a more robust foundation to build a business on.
The good news is that I managed to find it!
Introducing Local Lead Generation...
With local lead generation, you’re building small local service websites and then ranking them in Google.
Let’s say you build a little website about carpet cleaning for your local area.
When the site ranks in Google (and it will easily), you then drop a call tracking phone number on it, and redirect the calls to a local business owner that wants more work.
As people find your site in Google and start phoning for the service, they are directed to the business owner, who takes the calls.
The business owner then pays you for sending them the leads.
This could be a commission on each job they close (say 12%), or pay per lead (say $20 per lead), or a flat out rental fee each month for all the leads you send them (say $750 a month).
Now here’s where it gets exciting…
What if you could build 50 of these little websites, and rent them each out to different local business owners for $750 a month?
What if you could build 500 sites?
Do you see the potential here?

MARKET SATURATION & COMPETITION
You're going head to head with literally millions of sellers covering over 6000 different product niches. Breaking into an established niche is next to impossible - and finding untapped niches are becoming increasingly rare.
Start up costs require roughly $5000 in initial inventory, $10,000 in advertising, and $3000 in listing optimization, packaging, and branding. All in all, if you want to have a chance at success, you'll need to spend roughly $15,000 to $20,000 just as an initial investment.
Nearly all successful products are copied and resold by either Amazon or Chinese manufacturers who then undercut their competition at margins that only billion dollar companies can afford. Every time you see an Amazon Basics or Essentials product at the top ranked listing, it's likely that dozens of independent sellers went out of business.
The key to long term wealth is in building and owning valuable assets, but with Amazon FBA, you own nothing. You're an enslaved middleman to Amazon, who care only about market domination and making a profit. Remember, you're there to make them money - and your use of Amazon is a privilege they grant you; a privilege they can revoke at any time.
Between identifying products and suppliers, passing quality assurance, securing inventory, and then product ranking, you're looking at over a year before you even have a chance at seeing a net positive income.
Profit margins are extremely low, meaning the only real way to make money is through mass ordering. Successful Amazon sellers often make less than 10% profit off of their sales.
Amazon's terms of service are fickle and ever changing. Bans are frequent and can spell disaster for FBA startups and established businesses alike.
